A handful of chibi-style drawings I'm planning on using for stream alerts. (I don't usually draw chibi art, so putting them side by side kinda highlights how inconsistent they tend to be.)
Some summer vibes Shantae fanart inspired by the weather getting warmer here!
I did a different, similar illustration on stream the other day but didn't like the results, so I ended up re-drawing the entire thing. 💦
What do you think a Daisy-themed Super Crown would result in? I'm gonna say... Bowsy.
New Terraform page! Nova and Amanda have very different ideas of personal space.
Her big, fluffy hair is only matched by her big, fluffy heart. Going for a more shoujo-style look with this one.
Working on some stream overlay assets for the near future! I wanted something Dreamcast-specific, so I figured I should add Bun-E03, my stream mascot, to the mix. She also has a more... space-y palette planned.
Drawing her from memory was harder than I thought it'd be.
Bun-E03 and NEK-01 sketch! Updating the art that I've used for the end card for my (fairly limited) streams.
I have a bad habit of dropping characters and names as though they're already an established thing, so I'm adding a little more context after the jump.
I wasn't totally content with just having the one mascot, though, and I figured that if humanity were going to make animal-themed androids, they'd probably start with cats and dogs. As a result, NEK-01, a prototype of sorts, followed. She actually likes being around Bun-E03, but as a prototype she's not great at expressing her emotions, so she ends up coming off as terse. I hope to finish this illustration Soon™.
Terraform: Chapter 2, Page 50
A cosmic shirt for an out of this world girl.
Been spending a significant chunk of this month rebuilding my PC along with other stress, but I'm finally at the finish line. Gonna take a bit to get my creative drive up and running again, but it's good to get back into sitting down for longer drawing sessions rather than quick doodles to keep my pen moving.
Been a little down lately and getting back into my regular art output again. Decided to go with a fun redraw to get back in the groove.
I didn't see you come in. Please, take your shoes off, have a seat, make yourself at home. Would you like a drink? Perhaps some sparkling water?
It's time for an introduction! My name is Kellen (he/him), known here and elsewhere as Retro Heart or Super Retro Heart, a spare-time artist who works a full-time job in the video game industry.
Here's my no-nonsense sales pitch on my art. (Okay, maybe just a little nonsense.)
A good portion of my art is original art, character designs, one-off illustrations, and similar stuff. Cute girls, animal girls, monster girls, other things that don't fall into - but are usually adjacent to - those categories, you get the idea. I try to mix it up every now and again, but I tend to draw the things that are the most fun for me, so I hope you enjoy the results of my work, too. Which takes us to...
A lot of my time goes into working on Terraform, a comic about big changes in people's lives and the bonds that form between four unlikely friends from across dimensions. It features Nova, winner of Best Girl in the Award Ceremony I Just Made Up For This Post Awards. You may not know who Nova is now, but trust me, she'll be your favorite before you know it. Other comics are planned, but for now my focus is on Terraform, so give it a read!
Fan art isn't quite as common between working on personal projects and comics, but I like to dabble in vintage anime (i.e. the late 80s / early 90s) and video game characters I like from time to time. Something that's been fun to do lately is take more modern stuff and stylize it as something from an earlier time.
Prints and Stickers!
I recently opened up a small online store for prints and stickers, featuring some of the art you've seen above as well as other pieces. It's both original content based on my comics and other things I like, as well as fan art pieces. Be sure to check it out!
I've spent about 20 years of my life on this creative journey (so far), with the past ten years spend drawing nearly every single day. I hope you'll join me on my journey! If you'd like to offer support, I have a small online shop, and you can always send donations through Ko-Fi. Neither of these are required, but they serve as a great motivation for me. Or, heck, just stop by RetroHeart.net for my gallery, personal blog, and more.Follows, reblogs, and likes are greatly appreciated!
